Sugar Craft '08"

Today we finally, spent the day doing some sugar craft. We have both been longing to try and create some of those lovely roses you see on those elaborate cakes in windows.

First we meet at Susie Q, our local cake decorating shop, and brought some molding clay and icing, then off to Coles to purchase some flour, butter and eggs. We then donned our aprons and began sculpting.

We were a little nervous at first, as the ones in the books looked to perfect and delicate, but as soon as we began roses appeared. It was so much fun. Each rose turned out individual, instead of all the same like the ones in the store, and we were able to dye our icing any colour we liked, which was nice. We were pretty tired after it was all done but very proud of our efforts, sugar crafting will definitely become a regular past time for us.
